We spent at least two hours driving through back roads in Alabama, getting lost or, as Micah put it, "even loster".
But we also found a place to which we will return once the King the free time to burn with us. Driving through Helena, lured by the running water, we stopped at Buck Creek Park.

Micah picked a fresh clover bouquet that made it back to Tuscaloosa and to the castle table-top.
Always the most generous human being in the twenty-foot garden, Micah carefully distributed a dandelion to each of us, reminding us to wait and "all blow together for the fairies".
Max and Micah took off their shoes and socks for the first toe-dip of spring. Max reported that the water was "freezing ice-cold yipppeee."
Then everyone sat on the grass and thought about Frances, my canoe, and how she must be eager to kiss the creeks right about now.
Finally, we headed back to the spaceship to begin the long journey through the ozone-eaten stratosphere supposedly protecting our home.
But not without giving in to the giggling call of the creek just one more time....
Goodbye gorgeous green treasure. We'll be back before summer fades your colors.
